At its meeting yesterday, the Supervisory Board of UniCredit Bank AG (HypoVereinsbank) approved the appointment of Markus Beumer (54) to the Bank's Management Board. Mr Beumer will assume responsibility for the Unternehmer Bank, and thus for corporate banking, on 1 December 2018. He will succeed Robert Schindler (54), who is leaving the Bank to take on a new challenge outside the UniCredit Group.
"With Markus Beumer we have recruited a high-calibre expert for our business with corporate clients. Markus Beumer most recently served on the Executive Board of ODDO BHF Aktiengesellschaft, where he was the head of Group Corporates & Markets. From 2005 to 2016 he worked for Commerzbank, of which nine years as a member of the Management Board responsible for the Mittelstandsbank. Before that, Markus Beumer held various positions with other major banks in Germany, including at HypoVereinsbank, where he was in charge of the private banking business from 2000 to 2005.
Together with the Privatkunden Bank the Unternehmer Bank make up the Commercial Banking segment, the centre piece of HypoVereinsbank. Under Transform 2019, the group-wide strategic plan of UniCredit, HypoVereinsbank has reinforced further its strong position as the top choice for German Mittelstand companies. It intends to further increase its market presence in Germany with existing and new corporate clients thanks to the excellence of its bankers and products, from financing, risk management, capital market access to corporate succession and its range of digital channels and services.
